Squirrel Shit, James D. Casey IV

Sipping morning coffee
staring out the window
at life creeping by,

a slow blues riff
emitting from the radio
sends the mind back,

the birds begin dancing
with the memories, just as
a squirrel shits on the fence.

That’s the way it goes sometimes,
life isn’t always beautiful and
memories have the tendency to lie.
